Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle, you must be at least 21 years old, although age requirements can differ depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. You need to possess a valid driving licence suitable for the category of vehicle, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of residence are required, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional conditions may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or in person at our Isle of Man office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions securely handled by trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. Please ensure that the fuel level upon return matches that at the time of collection; refueling fees will be applied if the level is lower. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You will also be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, in addition to an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability, so we advise a thorough review. You remain accountable for damage or loss up to the excess amount unless further insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, off-roading, or any form of hazardous driving. Transporting dangerous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unapproved drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle must be used for its intended purpose only, and passenger and weight limits should not be exceeded. Driving outside the agreed geographical area requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by Isle of Man law, Car Hire will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be limited to the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Isle of Man Law
These Terms are governed by Isle of Man law. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of the Isle of Man.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
